After a 28 year career as an elementary school teacher, I retired in December 2019 and threw myself into teaching online through my website, The Ruffled Purse®.
At The Ruffled Purse®, I’ve combined my love of teaching and sewing to provide you with the education and support you need on your sewing journey.
One of the ways you can learn is through blog posts that utilize picture and video tutorials to enhance your understanding. You can search for specific topics using the search bar or go directly to the sewing categories:
Quilt Guild Presentation
For quilt guilds, I offer an interactive virtual lecture on how to Hang Quilts with Confidence.
During this presentation, quilters learn a process for creating a quilt hanging system that can be applied to any quilt or wall hanging. At the same time, they are encouraged to actively participate and create a quilt hanging system for one of their quilts.

Classes and Courses on Teachable
I’m currently in the process of creating an online school on Teachable, a platform that allows me to offer you easy-to-navigate classes and courses to help you grow and develop your sewing skills.
The first class will be Introduction to Hand Applique: the Freezer Paper Method.
