Thank you for your interest in speaking at the 2024 Conquer Your Fabric Scraps Summit.
On this page, you’ll find information about the event, what it means to be a summit teacher, and the resources I have for you to make this teaching opportunity as easy as possible. I encourage you to bookmark this page for easy reference.
Before you start reading, please take a look at what last year’s speakers and attendees said about the Conquer Your Fabric Scraps Summit.
I’m so excited to team up with you to pull off an incredible event! ~Nicki
The 2023 Conquer Your Fabric Scraps Summit was a free online event for quilters and sewists that ran from Nov. 6-9, 2023. The focus of the summit was helping attendees organize, manage, and use up scraps.
There were 14 teachers and 22 pre-recorded classes. The teachers all experienced list growth (many over 500 new subscribers), those who had existing email lists met or exceeded their summit revenue goals, and almost all of them said they would love to teach in the next summit I host.
4,391 people registered for the event. There were 34,000 views of the class videos. 463 attendees filled out the survey form. The response was overwhelmingly positive.
See some of the feedback I received from teachers and attendees.
The 2024 Conquer Your Fabric Scraps Summit is a free online event for quilters running August 15 – 18, 2024. Classes will be prerecorded and available to attendees for 48 hours. Classes vary in length based on the information being taught:
The free summit classes will be hosted on my site The Ruffled Purse.
Along with the classes, there will be a Facebook group for attendees to connect with teachers and others interested in using scraps. How active you are in the FB group is up to you. However, I do ask that you check in once or twice during the time period your class is live if you’re available. It’s a great chance to engage with the attendees, answer simple questions, and point them to additional resources you have.
Leading up to the summit, we’ll have about two weeks of promotion. You’ll be provided with email swipe copy, social media swipe copy, and social media graphics to make it all easy.
During the promotion phase, when the summit is running, and for a week after the summit is over, we’ll also be promoting the Scrap Success Bundle. This is a collection of resources that are available for purchase after attendees register for the free event. The Bundle will be hosted on my Sewing School on Teachable.
It includes resources to help buyers take action on conquering their scraps. These resources include:
The Scrap Success Bundle will provide immense value to our attendees while making the work of promoting and creating a class worthwhile by allowing you to bring in affiliate commissions and grow your email list.
So this all sounds great, but what kind of work does it require of you? Let’s chat about it.
My goal is to make everything easy so we can all enjoy the event while providing immense value to attendees and growing our businesses.
The first thing I’ll need is some basic information from you so I can finish up our registration page and teachers page. (name, bio, headshot, website address, and social media handles)
Basic teacher information is due by June 1, 2024.
This is something new this year based on feedback from last year’s teachers and attendees. I’m really excited for this change because you’re able to get in front of attendees as soon as promotion begins (not just the day of your class) and it allows attendees to start taking action and organizing their fabric scraps right away.
No longer than 5 minutes, this teacher introduction video will be located on your teacher page. I’ll provide an outline so all teachers share information using the same format. Attendees will be directed to the teacher pages once they register.
Below your Introduction Video will be a link to your class bonus (freebie email opt-in) and a feature box showcasing your contribution to the Scrap Success Bundle with your affiliate link to upgrade.
The video intro is due by June 1, 2024.
Detailed documents will be available to guide you through this process.
Next up is your class. This is a pre-recorded session or workshop that is meant to be friendly, informative, and actionable. We want our attendees to learn something valuable, feel encouraged, and have fun in the process.
Class content will be structured in a way that allows attendees to walk away feeling like they’ve really learned something and can take action on it immediately with their own fabric scraps.
Classes must not require attendees to give away their email or buy patterns or special tools in order to participate. For patterns and templates needed for the class, direct links must be provided.
A class topic will be determined during your onboarding process as a summit teacher, and you are free to use the class you create for the summit however you like in the future.
This is optional but without it you won’t be able to collect email addresses from attendees.
Class bonus freebies that convert the best are ones that are related to the class itself. If you need help brainstorming ideas, let me know.
All you need to turn in for the class bonus is a link to the form for attendees to sign up and a way to deliver the download to them.
Along with the pre-recorded class video and a link to your class bonus, you will need to provide a name for the class and a description. If you need help with this, let me know.
In addition, you’ll need to provide a JPG or PNG image file of the finished project or a relevant image for color mixing classes. These will be used on summit-branded thumbnails I create, on promotional materials, and to get attendees excited about your class.
Classes and related materials are due by June 22, 2024.
Detailed documents will be available to guide you through this process.
The Scrap Success Bundle will be a value-packed addition to the free classes. To make it even more valuable and to give you an additional way to collect attendee email addresses, I encourage you to provide a resource to add to the Scrap Success Bundle that would help attendees use their scraps.
This resource would be a product/service you typically charge for. This includes things like:
If you have another idea for a summit class, it could be included as a bonus class in the Bundle. Remember anything you create for the summit is yours to use as you want after the event.
It’s your decision whether you’d like to create something new or provide something you already have. I’m happy to help you brainstorm here, too.
Note: Free offers or percentage-off offers cannot be accepted as part of the Scrap Success Bundle.
While a Bundle contribution isn’t required, I highly encourage you to participate if your summit goals are to get leads and revenue for your business. This is a fantastic opportunity to collect additional email addresses (as attendees will provide their information to claim your bonus) and it makes it easier to promote to your audience since they will want what you’ve included. As a thank you, your affiliate commission will increase to 50%.
Bundle Buyers will be able to claim items from July 27 to September 30.
Bundle contribution info is due by June 30, 2024.
Detailed documents will be available to guide you through this process.
The power of an online summit comes from a group of experts coming together for a single cause. The joint promotion that happens because of that is a huge benefit to everyone involved.
All teachers are encouraged to share on social media and to email their lists during the official promotion period, starting on August 1, 2024.
You’ll want to share using your affiliate link (coming soon) so you can get in on the 40% commission you’ll receive from all sales of attendees who sign up using your special link AND purchase the Bundle.
If you choose to contribute a bonus to the Scrap Success Bundle, your commission will increase to 50%!
To make it as easy as possible for you to promote, I’ll create email swipe copy, social media copy, and social share graphics for you to use to promote the summit to your audience.
For the graphics, I’ll create ready-to-use files as well as editable Canva templates to make it easier for you to fit with your branding.
And last comes participation during the week of the event. Since we’ll already have done the work creating the classes and extra resources, we’ll be able to sit back and relax!
All I ask is that you pop into the Facebook group on the days your class is live if you’re available. Easy!
I will be hosting live sessions for the attendees who purchase the Scrap Success Bundle. These will happen once a week for 4 weeks after the summit is over. You are invited to join in on those as well.
While being a teacher in a summit is a lot of fun, there are many benefits for teaching in the Conquer Your Fabric Scraps Summit:
While summits are great for overall visibility and making new connections, a little extra income never hurts either, right?
That’s exactly why I’ve set up an affiliate program for the Scrap Success Bundle where you’ll receive a commission from all sales of attendees who sign up using your special link AND purchase the Bundle.
The commission structure is as follows:
The pricing structure will be:
Just remember to use your affiliate link which can be found on your Teachable Affiliate Dashboard (link coming soon.) Directions on how to access your dashboard can be found HERE.
As with all affiliate promotions, be sure to disclose that you’re an affiliate when sharing with your audience.
Earnings made in August will be paid on October 1, 202
The Resource Vault is a shared folder on Google Drive that holds all of the documents and files teachers will need. Once you let me know you’re in and want to be a teacher in the summit, I’ll send you the link to access this folder.
In it you will find detailed documents describing everything you need to know about the summit.
